The organization describes itself as the only autonomous community-action non-profit in Canada dedicated to Argentine tango, with a unique approach founded on the art of meeting. Here, tango is seen not as a dance of seduction but as a dance of connection: first with yourself, then with your partner, and finally with others, always in relation to the music. Rather than teaching steps or figures, the school favours andragogical strategies and competency-based programs inspired by “empowerment” and popular education. The aim is to develop a bodily and socio-spatial awareness that allows two people to meet and express emotions through movement, with play at the heart of the experience, fostering listening and connection.
This approach sets the school apart from other tango institutions in North America and has allowed it to work with a wide range of people, including athletes, circus artists and people with physical limitations, while creating innovative programs such as “Intervention Tango”
